Is Slavij free?

Yes. Slavij is free with ads, and ads never interrupt a lesson. Slavij Pro removes all ads and supports new lessons: 99 CZK a month or 599 CZK a year in Czechia, with a 7-day free trial on the yearly plan for new subscribers. In other countries the App Store sets the price in your currency.

Which phones does Slavij run on?

On iPhone with iOS 17.0 or later, from the App Store. An Android version is in testing on Google Play and coming soon.

Do I need an account?

No. Your progress stays on your phone and Slavij works offline. Friends is optional: it shares a small summary of your progress through iCloud only if you turn it on.

Do I need to speak a Slavic language?

No, but it helps. If you speak one, you will recognise many words before you learn them, and Slavij lets you guess them first. If you don’t, you learn from English or Czech, and Interslavic gives you a head start on all the Slavic languages.

Will Slavic speakers really understand me?

Interslavic is designed to be understood without study, especially when read. How much someone understands depends on their language and the words you use. After each lesson, Slavij shows which Slavic languages share the words you just learned.

Latin or Cyrillic?

Both. One switch shows every word in Latin or Cyrillic, and your typed answers count in either script. You can also choose the standard or the etymological spelling.

Which languages is the app in?

The interface is in English and Czech, and the meanings of words follow it. The dictionary shows every word’s twins in 12 Slavic languages.

How do I hear the pronunciation?

There is no Interslavic voice yet, so a voice from another Slavic language reads the words. You can choose it in Profile → Audio → Voice; an enhanced voice from the iPhone’s settings sounds best.

Is the course correct?

The course follows the Interslavic dictionary and grammar, and fluent speakers are reviewing it. If you spot a mistake, please tell us.

How do I cancel Slavij Pro?

The App Store manages the subscription: on iPhone, open Settings → Apple Account → Subscriptions. Cancel at least 24 hours before the current period ends.

Who makes Slavij?

Slavij is an independent app by Rudolf Cicko. It is not affiliated with Duolingo or any other company. Write to rudolfcickodev@gmail.com.
